A small earthquake has been recorded in the area of White River Junction, Vermont, near the New Hampshire border. Some residents reported feeling the 2.3-magnitude earthquake, which the United States Geological Survey says struck around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police responded to a fatal accident on Burke Mountain on Sunday. Denny Degreenia, 45, of Concord, was driving a 1986 LMC 1500 tracked and enclosed utility vehicle, checking "snow guns" on the mountain when the vehicle rolled over. He and passenger Clifford Savage, 27, were both unrestrained at the time, and Degreenia was ejected.

Everyone is safe, but it’s still unclear how long dangerous carbon monoxide gas was leaking into 12 apartment buildings. Williston fire crews were at the scene for several hours, investigating a carbon monoxide leak.
Bellows Falls: Fire severely damaged a home in Bellows Falls. The fire broke out on Westminster Street a little after 1 A.M. Sunday. Four people were inside the home at the time but they were able to make it out safely. Multiple departments from both Vermont and New Hampshire responded to the 3-alarm blaze. One fire fighter was treated for a hand injury. The state was called in to investigate the cause.

An 86-year-old woman was died after her home in Chelsea burned down. Vermont State Police said the fire was reported 6 a.m. Monday at a home on Corinth Road. Investigators said the home burned to the ground before any departments could respond.

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Lyndonville, Vermont Saturday morning. The fatal incident happened on US Route 5 shortly before 8 a.m. The victim was identified as Mattie Lynn Hale, 46, of Lyndon, Vermont. Hale was pronounced dead at the scene

A Vermont man and his girlfriend have been charged with neglect, manslaughter and Medicare fraud after authorities say his severely disabled son died of septic shock from infected bed sores. Jeffrey Kittredge, 51, and Jennifer Cote, 42, of Montpelier, pleaded not guilty last week to charges in the July 2016 death of 20-year-old Jeffrey A. Kittredge II.
