One person is dead following a single-car crash on U.S. Route 7 Sunday morning, authorities said. Police said the crash occurred around 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of Route 7 and Peaks Pine Road. The driver of the car, Shelby Coon, 27, of Bennington, was driving north on US Route 7 when the car went off the southbound shoulder and hit a tree.
Wanda Sanville was fatally shot at a residence at 479 Happy Hollow Road in Royalton. Another male and a five-year-old child were in the house at the time. The male witness identified the suspect as the victim's estranged husband, Frank Sanville, 70. The witness said that he struggled with the suspect after the incident and was able to take his gun.
The Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit announced the arrest and indictment of Jennifer Simard, 46, of Brownington, on Friday. Simard is being charged with 2nd degree murder and manslaughter for the death of Kevin Smith on March, 28 2016. Smith died of a stab wound to the chest.
Three men were arrested after officers found they had heroin and cocaine, police said. Police said they pulled over a car on Interstate 91 in Rockingham about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Vermont State Police are investigating after a dog was shot and killed in Coventry. Police said the beagle was shot Monday sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Spencer Hill Road. They said the family pet had been mistakenly left outside during this time.

A man suffered a collapsed lung after the vehicle he was driving struck a slow-moving plow truck early Saturday on Interstate 89 in Colchester. Herbert Durfee II, 55, of Grand Isle, attempted to pass the truck, which was distributing salt, but he clipped its side plow wing, state police said.
